Passionate luthiers shaping musical dreams.
New Zealand Stringed Instruments was created from our shared passion of music. We started as individual makers, and in 2024 we joined together in Christchurch. From there we have grown to where we now provide service throughout New Zealand and overseas. Our heart and soul are in stringed instruments, and we want to share our love of music with you. We hand craft all our instruments and offer our skills for instrument repair.
Wiremu
Wiremu has been making stringed instruments for over 15 years, His passion for the craft comes from his family and his upbringing where music was central to everything. He is renowned for his attention to fine detail and has a true commitment to working with musicians to create their dream instrument.
Helen
Helen has a background in orchestra, and still plays violin in orchestras when she is not crafting string instruments herself. She attributes her skill to the time spent listening and observing other string instruments. She has a true ability to create a unique instrument crafted for you.
Peter
Peter loves working with the larger string instruments and enjoys the unique sounds from instruments he has crafted. Peter as over 30 years’ experience and is the lead in the instrument repair workshop.
